The Four Corners Culture Week – something for everybody!
Culture is important to all the Four Corners. Southeast Skåne, for example, is one of the most important centres of culture in Sweden – despite the fact that there are no large cultural institutions!
Culture in the Four Corners is an ancient and thriving grassroots movement driven by a committed, knowledgeable and inspired population. The work of these people is central to the region’s well being and one of the main reasons why it is such a popular region with tourists.
During the summer months, the Four Corners attract many visitors from their own countries and their European neighbours. To encourage visitors at other times of the year, the Four Corners introduced an autumn event – the Four Corners Culture Week.
Four Corners Culture Week has been taking place during four weeks in September and October every year. Exhibitions by artists, craftsmen, photographers, film-makers, musicians, poets and actors etc present their skills in galleries, studios, theatres, concert halls etc. Throughout the Four Corners, visitors are treated to a wide and exciting range of culture events.
The Culture Week 2007 in Southeast Skåne is concentrated to one week, 15th-19th of October.
During this year’s Culture Week in Southeast Skåne, Jacques Werup will perform a tour in Simrishamn, Tomelilla, Skurup, Sjöbo and Ystad.
The artist Jacques Werup has performed around Sweden in large concert halls with his poetry-concerts together with renown musicians and artist such as Hans Pålsson, Pernilla August, Lill Lindfors, Jan Lundgren, Mats Ronander and Håkan Hardenberger.
He now returns to the small villages in Southeast Skåne – as often mentioned in his poems – with the show “Stjärnstoft” his most intimate performance ever. Together with the multi-sound artist Johan Bergström he highlights the lyric poetry in his books and performs acoustic.
Jacques Werup visits five villages in Southeast Skåne with his show “Stjärnstoft” all during week 42. |
